Review on ☔ Compact Ultralight Windproof HappyRain Umbrella by Tanya Samuel

Not as described - tried twice

I bought this umbrella from Revain and didn't care at all. I posted my review and shortly after received an email from the company asking me to try the umbrella again. I did so and ordered the umbrella again. I'll start with the positive. In a situation where it is raining and there is no wind, your umbrella is perfect. It works like I would expect from an umbrella that costs $5, $10, or $50. Nothing unique but good. Problems arise with every wind. I live in the city and have to walk the streets most of the time. On the two umbrellas I've tried, it flips over immediately with the slightest wind. Not good. Since it's advertised as windproof, I'd give it an "F" because it doesn't even take light winds. They also advertise it as "super thin". Class F again. This umbrella does not fold. I have had many umbrellas, cheap and expensive, and have never had an umbrella that was so difficult to fold back into a thin shape. I understand why they have a rubber closure because the umbrella stays thick and uncomfortable but still stays together. When I close it, it doesn't fit in the plastic bags that are placed in building lobbies to store wet umbrellas. As a result, this drips everywhere, including on the subway, which is rude to other passengers. As the owner of LOTS of umbrellas, I've never had one that didn't easily fold down to a size that would fit in one of those plastic umbrella bags. As for ease of opening/closing, I would give it a five. For the price I can't expect a mechanism so I'd say it's ok BUT I'd pay a few bucks more to get one that at least closes with a button. With all the umbrellas I can't find anything that is better, more unique or different than any other umbrella. But I absolutely find it more of a hassle than it's worth for my lifestyle and the need for an umbrella that can handle a bit of wind and folds up neatly.
