Loose fitting, but roomy for this length. I ordered a smaller size for my very thin daughter hoping it would fit her waist better even if it is too short. It's short (midi length) but still fairly loose around her waist. For the record, she is almost 8.47 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds and regularly wears regular size 5 pants or size 6 skinny pants that fit her waist. Overall it's still a great dress and she loves it.
