Read the instructions first, THEN you can

Wonderful little device. Don't be fooled by people trying to abuse it. It works exactly as advertised if you use it as intended. I have 3 of their devices (1 tower and 2 of this particular device). How I use them: iGo Wall Surge Protector #1 (Living Room): Always On: - Lamp - Humidifier (damn Kansas winters!) Surge Protector #2 (Living Room): Always On: - Lamp Car: - Wii Remote Charger - - iGo Tower: Always on:- Nothing Car:- MacBook Pro charger (in 1st pair of automatic sockets) - Canon EOS 7D battery charger (in 2nd pair of automatic sockets) - AA charger (in 2nd pair of automatic sockets) USB : - iPhone - When I need to use the MBP charger on a desktop or wall device, I plug in my MacBook Pro and press the button on the iGo device. I have power immediately. If I unplug the charger from my laptop, it turns itself off the next time I check my power usage (check every 30 minutes). If my laptop isn't too weak, I often just turn it on and go about my business. The next time he checks power consumption, *boom* my laptop is charging. Ditto for all other chargers I have used with these devices. NOTE: This is not the best for desktop. it *can* be used for this, but it will be much more difficult to get it working. These devices really are the best for charging devices. They're incredibly easy to get up and running, just plug everything in WITHOUT charging, press and hold the button until the light flashes, and let go! You *could* calibrate it to turn off when your laptop goes to sleep, for example. The downside to this is that 1. your laptop will start to drain (slowly) and 2. it will pretty much turn on and off if you leave it plugged in overnight. That's why mine is calibrated to only turn off the power when I'm not plugged in. NOTE 2: Connect similar devices to the pairs as indicated so that they draw the same amount of power (for calibration purposes). This particular device only has one pair of automatic outlets. There are two in the tower. It's best to use the same devices in each pair, since the pairs work together (if one has a device trying to use power, both are on). However, I connected one of my MBP chargers to the same pair as the iPhone charger and it works 100% as expected :D These devices are really amazing little things. You only hear a faint click every 30 minutes or so as it turns on, checks power consumption, and (when not in use) clicks back. It's nice to know that you're only using a fraction of the vampire's power (because those things *really* have light and need *some* energy to function the way they do. That's not iGo's fault though ). It's funny how quiet my house got after adding a few of these devices along with spell-controlled surge protectors. There are so few electronic devices that make annoying buzzing or buzzing noises when I'm not using them! :)
