Review on 🌬️ Vornado TRANSOM Window Fan - 4 Speeds, Remote Control, Reversible Exhaust Mode, Weather Resistant Case - White by Richard Cheng

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful semi-permanent design, easy installation, efficiency, HUMS

The form factor of this fan far exceeds typical window fans on the market. much more compact, fits better and looks "more durable" after installation. The window covering system works surprisingly well (at least if it works at all) and *works* with the screen, but will most likely at least bump into it. probably more like air than it really is. The mechanism for switching between intake and exhaust is quite nifty and fun. When it comes to noise, it's hard to judge. I think because of the "fan" type there is a persistent and very noticeable low frequency hum (roughly the same noise at all speeds) when it is turned on. It looks more like a refrigerator or air conditioning compressor than a fan. So if that kind of noise bothers you, look elsewhere. A few others have installed it in various orientations with mixed results. During installation I noticed that if you move it too much while it's on it can actually stop the motor and won't start until it's unplugged and plugged back in. So you may encounter a "feature" that actively prevents you from messing around with the orientation. This fan (or type of fan) seems to be quite power efficient, although the draw measurement showed only slight differences at different speeds (this is annoying, make the speeds clearer!) different speeds on this fan: 1:22W 2:22W (small audible difference , but change in power consumption is negligible) 3:24 W 4:27 W For comparison, a more typical Lasko twin 9-inch window fan (note that it's larger and probably moves twice as much air): 1:48 W2 : 55W3: 66 watts
