Bought this for my daughter's car to add a little tweak as a budget option but it just didn't install clean enough. As a car light kit it does its job well but it's not what my daughter was looking for. The biggest drawback, apart from the oversized control box, is that the cables from the controller to the first light strips are too short. I've tried installing it on 2 different cars (Expedition 1993, 14 IS350) and without removing some of the trim pieces they just didn't install properly and although the wiring is thick and solid it works against it as is. harder to hide. I also found the power plug and USB stick to stick out quite a bit and get in the way. I found that when I installed it in the Expedition via the power connector on the rear seat console control panel, the cables were long enough and the unit installed well, but the control unit was still an issue and using the remote while driving did it doesn't work has helped. It works well, and it just didn't feel right to put in a late '40s car. However, we really liked the lighting set and the fun options it offered, so we tried another way rather than sending it back. like a TV light! It's so easy to install, especially if you have a TV with a spare USB-A port on the back. With an LCD display with speaker output on the back of most TVs, discreetly mounting the controller on the back of the TV with the IR controller cable protruding from the front allows for amazing audio playback from the device and easy and convenient device control via the remote control . or phone app! It can also be mounted using a USB-A wall adapter (not included) and placed on the back of your TV or entertainment center. Just make sure the control box is close to the speaker for better light response in music mode. The kids danced until they turned off the music mode, creating a club atmosphere in the family room! Had to think of other options as it worked so well with a TV and stereo, found it worked great with a portable power bank too! With a power bank and a Bluetooth speaker, I could put on a portable light show anywhere. By just peeling off part of the adhesive backing, I was able to easily install/remove the device. First, I set it up on a folding table just below the ledge, routed the cables around the leg rests, and used a small cooler (a box, log, or similar would work too) to place the power supply and Bluetooth speaker next to the controller , and that was it. great and added a fun aspect to the party! With just a portion of the tape it came off instantly and by replacing the wrapping with tape I was able to reuse it. We also used it for camping and it added a nice touch to our camp! I've seen some complaints about the adhesive backing and I suggest you clean and properly prepare the surface. Make sure to clean the surface you plan to install them on before sticking the light strips. First use mild soap and water and dry completely. Then wipe the area with an isopropyl alcohol wipe. You will get a strong and permanent fixation. Rest assured, firmly (but not too firmly) press down the entire length of the light wand for more adhesion. I do not recommend using more harsh chemicals like mineral spirits or acetone as they tend to damage most surfaces if extreme care is not used. The device has 8 color settings with 8 brightness levels, as well as 8 different modes: 4 fade/fade settings and 4 music settings. The LED panels and wiring are waterproof, but the control box is NOT waterproof. Cable dimensions (all approximate): Controller to first LED strip 36 5/8" (93 cm), First LED strip to last LED strip 56 3/8" (143.2 cm), between USB-A- Connector and Controller - 381/2" (97.8 cm). If you want a fun lighting option, I recommend buying it as it compares well to similar devices. It has good build quality, bright LEDs, and plenty of setup and control options at an affordable price.
