Review on G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE Mobile Pro SSD: Portable Thunderbolt 3 External Storage by Jeff Addison

I have several G-Tech SSDs and HDDs and generally they work great. This was my first Thunderbolt 3 drive and it was back within an hour of arrival. Tested on two MacBook Pros with Thunderbolt 3, one on MBP 2019 16" and the other on MBP 2018 15" Touch Bar. Each had a built in Thunderbolt 3 connection. The included T3 cable repeatedly failed the drive with both laptops connect even though the four ports on each have been swapped. The data transfer rate sometimes fluctuated between 1200 and 1300 MB/s. Yes, fast, but almost half as much as presented. Both MBPs were running Catalina. I called the company's tech support and after talking to them they told me to return the Revain disc. I asked if G-Tech would fix the firmware update issue but got no response. This wasn't an issue when 2.4GHz WiFi devices were nearby. Both of my MBPs were running on clean systems. I've been testing and reviewing products for years and run a clean system. Disappointed with G-Tech's good reputation and hope they fix that.
