Quickly. Very rarely there are minor problems.

This is an incredibly fast SSD, tested to be much faster than the 2TB in my 2017 15" MBP. Works best with the included Thunderbolt 3 cable connected directly to the TB3 port of the MBP is connected. good from OWC, the drive sometimes disconnects or gives read errors Please note that this is not limited to USB-C computers, USB-C cables connected to a TB3 port, or a computer with Thunderbolt 1 or 2 works with Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter and TB2 cable as Apple has not deigned to use a TB2 to TB3…

4. Replacement drive

The drive was originally attached through a Caldigit TS3 dock (which is TB3) and worked fine. Updated to Big Sur and started disconnecting. At first I thought it did the update, so I asked Apple to do everything and then some (I have Apple Care+). The Apple engineering team checked my Mac Mini and said they couldn't find anything that could be causing this problem. Mac Mini and the behavior is preserved. It's not a question of power. I'm at hard drive replacement #4. The support reps I've dealt

Lightning fast but COMPLETELY useless

I really wanted this SSD. The design is great and it's the fastest TB3 SSD I've ever owned. The only problem is that it is completely unreliable. The drive was ejecting from my 2019 MBP at random times, often at least once an hour. I changed my macOS settings to never put the drive to sleep and even bought an app to keep the drive running, but it didn't work. Nothing worked. I bought it primarily for video editing and due to the constant ejection I had no confidence that this drive would not…

Mounting, disconnecting and baud rate issues

I have several G-Tech SSDs and HDDs and generally they work great. This was my first Thunderbolt 3 drive and it was back within an hour of arrival. Tested on two MacBook Pros with Thunderbolt 3, one on MBP 2019 16" and the other on MBP 2018 15" Touch Bar. Each had a built in Thunderbolt 3 connection. The included T3 cable repeatedly failed the drive with both laptops connect even though the four ports on each have been swapped. The data transfer rate sometimes fluctuated between 1200 and 1300…

Superior performance, shorter lifespan than competitor drives

Depending on where you will be using this drive, this is a very good option for a variety of creative workflows and purposes (similar to the Samsung X5). The main disadvantage of this drive is the design of the end caps. While this device claims to withstand drops from heights of 2m or more, the end caps will actually warp or snap if dropped onto a hard surface from that height. Also, some of the bundled/integrated programs do not work properly in all cases. If you're looking for the best…

Fast but unreliable. Outages get worse over time

High speed, but as others have pointed out, the connection drops constantly, often up to 30 times a day. It will remount automatically, but you just can't count on it being saved properly. Also, its 1GB size limit makes it a poor choice for automatic Time Machine backups. Update: Bought a new premium high speed cable. Surprisingly, it worked for almost a month WITHOUT constant shutdowns. Now I can't leave it plugged in until it is unplugged. TOTALLY CRAZY!

Great ride - 3 months of work turned into 5 days

My experience with this product was very good. The write speeds on my iMacs range from 2200 to 2600. I wasn't expecting the 2800 speed to be correct as most non-Apple products don't usually match the exact numbers. However, there was a difference in using real time when creating videos. I had to redo almost 700 corrupted videos and these discs made my job much faster. I hooked up three of these drives to three different iMacs and what would normally take three months only took about five days…

Fast but disconnects

I was hoping that after some negative reviews G-Tech had solved the disconnect problem. I tried this drive and it is really very fast (maybe the fastest in this drive category) but unfortunately I saw one failure after 2 days, then 3 and now several in few hours. I spoke to G-Tech. Support, and while they didn't acknowledge the problem with this product, they recommended replacing it. Now the question is, do I try my luck again or choose Glyph Atom Pro. ".. Factory problem". They also claim…
