Review on G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE Mobile Pro SSD: Portable Thunderbolt 3 External Storage by Mike Kies

Revainrating 4 out of 5

4. Replacement drive

The drive was originally attached through a Caldigit TS3 dock (which is TB3) and worked fine. Updated to Big Sur and started disconnecting. At first I thought it did the update, so I asked Apple to do everything and then some (I have Apple Care+). The Apple engineering team checked my Mac Mini and said they couldn't find anything that could be causing this problem. Mac Mini and the behavior is preserved. It's not a question of power. I'm at hard drive replacement #4. The support reps I've dealt with never mentioned anything about a manufacturing issue (according to another review here). However, they asked me to connect it to another TB3 computer. What the hell, I'm the only one with this problem. Let's say I plug it into another TB3 computer (which I don't have) and it works. where does it leave me They think I'm going to buy a new computer. This wasn't a helpful suggestion, especially since there are many others with the same problem. For those of you who don't have this problem, consider yourself lucky. THIS IS REAL. I have a TB3 docking station (Calidigit TS3) with both USB-C and USB-A ports and have never had a problem with either drive. I have an OWC Thunderbay 4 TB3 and all 4 drives work great. I used 3 different TB3 cables (the cable that came with the drive and the Apple TB3 cable and TB3 patch cable). This G-Drive Mobile Pro TB3 SSD is the only drive that has experienced this issue. I have contacted you. I contacted the support service and asked them to send me a checked diskette with the latest firmware. Just take a look.
