Review on G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE Mobile Pro SSD: Portable Thunderbolt 3 External Storage by Steven Darkshnar

Superior performance, shorter lifespan than competitor drives

Depending on where you will be using this drive, this is a very good option for a variety of creative workflows and purposes (similar to the Samsung X5). The main disadvantage of this drive is the design of the end caps. While this device claims to withstand drops from heights of 2m or more, the end caps will actually warp or snap if dropped onto a hard surface from that height. Also, some of the bundled/integrated programs do not work properly in all cases. If you're looking for the best combination of durability and speed, and an easier setup, check out Envoy X5 or OWC IP67 NVMe drives.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Unsafe
