Compatible with Microsoft Surface Pro 3 laptop. Same bit density, just wider. The Surface Pro 3 outputs extra bits to a wider monitor, so the aspect ratio is preserved. Set the screen resolution to "Use only display 2" in the settings. The colors are great without any adjustments. I don't care about the monitor audio as I use headphones for private listening and a stereo for group listening. The only thing that came with the monitor was a floppy disk with drivers and instructions. The Surface Pro 3 doesn't have a CD so I just guessed and it works. Eventually I wanted to change the brightness and found the monitor driver and documentation on the HP website. After installing the driver I didn't notice any difference. I was hoping the software would do something useful, like adjust the brightness using the controls on the laptop. Or adjust contrast, colors and profiles on a laptop. But nothing / NADA / zilch. The documentation showed how to make manual adjustments, and I found "secret" unlabeled "buttons" that more closely resemble hotspots in the lower-right corner of the panel, controlling on/off, volume, color, contrast, etc . They are unobtrusive and once discovered. really cool.
