Review on Beastron Excalibur Mechanical Customizable Programmable by Bobby Aghetoni

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Despite the false advertising, not bad.

Apart from the false advertising (which lost a whole star), I think it's worth the asking price. The technology allows you to fully customize the backlight” – the statement is 100% FALSE. There are 5 presets. All but one of these presets use a rolling rainbow color scheme that cannot be changed. If you want an item to just "breathe” or remain a spot color, you can only define ONE color for it. Well, slow blinking. If you're thinking Chroma or something like that, think again. In addition, all function keys and the number keys M and 0-9 are colored green and remain green. There is no way to disable them individually or change their color. However, I found a cool way to MANUALLY statically program colors. See below. As this was NOT the reason I bought it and I didn't care about the colors I only took off one star because I feel these sellers have a duty to be truthful in their descriptions. The palm rest is also absolute rubbish. However, if you play enough to justify such a pad, I think you should already know how to get your own breaks. Now let's get to the point: functionality. That's where like this product. Everything is within reach. Of course, the F4 and F5 keys are stretched a bit more than on a regular keyboard, but this design allows the F10/11/12 keys to be within reach of your thumb if you raise your hand slightly. With a regular keyboard, you have to take your hands off the mouse or take your hand completely off WASD to press these keys. While I'm a bit disappointed with the placement of the Esc key and the exclusion of the Tab key, this can be easily fixed with software (we'll get to that headache later). Pressing enter and backspace down right feels nice, and a nice loud "CLICK" when I hit the keys makes me smile. point, 4) star product. Unfortunately, this is due to the company itself. Aula is a Chinese company. That doesn't mean the quality is lower. And vice versa. For what I paid, it's not a bad device at all, and I think it's comparable (and in some ways better than the design) to the Razer Orbweaver, which costs $50 more. However, its location and localization mean there will be support. Well, a little crazy by our standards. Your (English) website is a mess and as of 2/27/2018 I can't find a valid driver link online as most of the links just send you in circles. I had to dig up an old CD reader and hook it up to my computer just to get the drivers. Keep this driver disk in a safe place because if you lose it, you're doomed to fail the next time you want to install software. I personally copied the setup file to a cloud drive just in case. The software itself is a little less intuitive than expected, being designed for a different culture and language. There were a few "all your base" moments with horribly bad translations. But I think if you have experience with other keyboards like Razer or Saitek you should be able to overcome that language barrier without too much hassle. Once you do this I find changing keys is quick and painless. As well as changing and creating profiles. I have not registered or logged in to their online service. I don't see the point. It's interesting to note that there is some programming that can be done by holding down the FN key, but without a detailed technical manual in English I have no idea what these things do other than fooling around. With. FN+ B, G, or R makes the highlight bluer, greener, or redr according to the sold color preset. FN+0/2/4/6/8 switches to different color presets. FN+W makes the backlight brighter and FN+S makes it dimmer. But what's really interesting is FN+1/3/5/7/9. You press one of these key combinations once and the backlight turns off. Press the same combination again and the green light will flash. This is a color programming mode where each key (except function keys) can be assigned (or disabled) one of the 7 static colors by pressing the desired key. When you're done, just hit the combo again. That's about what I got. Hope that helps.
