Stay away from Dell Inspiron laptops

To be honest I am very disappointed with this laptop. Although I'm not surprised. I've never bought a Dell and here's why. I had an outdated HP "7 years and no problems" so my wife bought me this computer as a gift. We run a small family owned landscaping business and use it for billing and bidding. Things like that and this laptop have been on a table connected to the wall since day one. He NEVER moved. About 2 weeks ago I was in billing and a low battery message popped up on the screen. Figured I must have accidentally turned it off somehow. I looked at the wall and the cable is fine. So I unplugged the cable from the computer and plugged it back in to see if I had a bad connection. As I did so, I heard a pop and the green light on the charger went out. So I unplugged the cord and then noticed black plastic coming out of the connector. I tried to reconnect it but to no avail. The green light goes out almost immediately when I plug it into my computer. I called Dell and from the start the phone call was very awful. The Dell rep looked confused and didn't know what to do. After talking to Dell for about an hour, the rep found a solution. I would pay $100 for a one time house warranty. So I agreed and they took $100 from my account and said a Dell technician would be at my house within 24 hours. We called back and I waited. Almost 2 days later I called Dell to ask what was going on and this rep sounded even more confused than the first. He told me I was informed and they don't do one off home repairs. Note that if your computer is still under warranty, they offer a $100 one-time home repair option on their website. which was mine After all this Dell told me I had to send them my computer for my dollar, they would diagnose it then fix it and then ship it back to me. It only takes about 15 or more business days. So here's a month of business talks lol. I then told Dell I couldn't wait that long, it was our only corporate billing computer and I was in the middle of billing when he died. Because of this, another representative performed a one-time 24-hour repair. Well they told me there was no other way, take it or leave. So I went to the local computer repair shop and it turned out that the internal charging port was defective, the motherboard was burned out and some other things I can't even pronounce can. Paid $600 for a new computer. Paid $90 + charge port work $450 + motherboard work and over 100 customers frustrated because they all received handwritten invoices from May. Thank you Dell, your best Dell will never be again
