Not built well for dog feet

My dog is a Chihuahua Terrier mix, about 20 pounds. They are very cute and it's nice that they have little rubber soles. But even with the toggle switch, they slide too far, and it's too easy for him to disengage. The rope from him prevents him from walking, becoming an easy target to pull and chew on. He's only warned them twice and they already look exhausted. I would not recommend them.
