Review on πŸ”† Lutron Aurora Dimmer for Philips Z3 - 1BRL-WH-L0 by Jason Martinez

Finally a dimmer that originally works with Hue, but.

PROBLEM: When it comes to the HUE system, the biggest problem is the wall switches. We have an official dimmer that cannot be installed in the US 1-gang box and a step switch. We now have a Runlesswire seesaw that looks promising but costs sixty dollars a switch, which pays for itself very quickly. Aurora solves this problem by adding a toggle switch and a dimmer in the same package that's easy to use and affordable. Adaptation: My grandma could install this thing. If you have toggle switches installed in your home, it will take about 10 minutes from start to finish. It goes well with the app and then you select your room to control. He also reacts. When a guest comes, he doesn't think twice about how to use it. If you've used a dimmer before, you've mastered it. WHAT TO NOTE: A few notes about the system. First, it's the build quality. It's ok and I'm sure it will last, but I was expecting a little more than what I got. The middle button is wobbly. It wobbled to the point where I thought it had been damaged in transit. I opened two other switches that I received in the same batch and they all felt the same. The same goes for the wheel. It appears to be floating as there is no pot behind it to resist. I've tried my best to see if there's anything I could do to improve the feel by adding padding or something else to the grip, but it's very tight on the inside. WISHLIST: One of the features I'd like to see implemented in the future is scene selection, like Hue's dimmer remote. Press the button once to select the default scene, press the button a second time to select a different one. For now, I'd be happy with just two. The switch does not appear in Home Kit or Home Assistant. It's only available through the HUE app. I want them to open it to allow control via home helper or openhab. This would extend the usefulness of the switch to infinity. I recommend this switch if you're going crazy with people turning off switches and then your lights become unresponsive. This 100% solves this problem, but it's a great first attempt at solving this problem. With a little work, I think this could be just the switch people want to use for HUE.
