Review on Plextor M8Pe 256GB PCIe NVMe Internal SSDDrive with Heatsink (PX-256M8PeY) by Simon Nugroho

Revainrating 5 out of 5

fast and beautiful NVMe m.2 drive

Fast NVMe m.2 drive with heatsink for controller cooling. This drive uses Toshiba MLC NAND (15nm) Flash memory in combination with a Marvel controller. MLC NAND is known for its increased durability compared to TLC or Samsung v-NAND. This is a fast drive that actually gives the numbers showing the stats for this drive with a clean install of Win10. So far, so good. it was only one day. :) However, two things to note: 1) The Plextor logo at the time of posting adds about 3 or 4 seconds to the load time when "Manage Storage Download Options" is set to "Legacy". You can disable this, but see below. 2) The only way I can see this drive on my Gigabyte Aorus Z270X Gaming 8 motherboard (F7beta BIOS) is in the BIOS tab to ensure "Manage Storage Boot Options" is set to "Legacy" (and NOT UEFI). is. This is the default option, so the drive should be visible in the BIOS on a new build. You must keep this option checked in order for the Windows 8/10 installer to see the disc (although I didn't need any additional drivers during the install). After booting into Windows, I switched this setting back to UEFI for fast publishing. It works great! A NOTICE. The Aorus Z270x's BIOS still doesn't show anything under Peripherals -> NVMe Configuration, but until then you'll see Plextor M8Pe as the main boot target (under the BIOS tab). and you see the plextor splash screen every time you post, you can install windows 8/10.
