Good value for money but poor durability.

Around April 2017, two Plextor M8Pe 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe drives were purchased and installed one each on two HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini PCs. At the same time, I installed 4x Samsung 970 evo nvme each on 4 other HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini-PCs. All of these systems are used in a general office environment with adequate ventilation and a light read/write load. A month apart, both Plextor drives failed with the same failure mode. The system freezes at the initial HP Bios logo and does not work. After…

Flawless NVMe M.2 storage, great value, easy setup.

The M9 series comes with 3D NAND so maybe hold your money or wait for the price to drop. I haven't noticed any problems with throttling so far. Mine is also located right under the graphics card of my MSI B350M Gaming Pro, which I think adds a ton of extra heat. But the rest of the disc is just fantastic. UEFI recognized it immediately and I was able to install Windows on it in minutes. Large installations are easy. NVMe is definitely superior to SATA III. From UEFI screen to Windows login in…

fast and beautiful NVMe m.2 drive

Fast NVMe m.2 drive with heatsink for controller cooling. This drive uses Toshiba MLC NAND (15nm) Flash memory in combination with a Marvel controller. MLC NAND is known for its increased durability compared to TLC or Samsung v-NAND. This is a fast drive that actually gives the numbers showing the stats for this drive with a clean install of Win10. So far, so good. it was only one day. :) However, two things to note: 1) The Plextor logo at the time of posting adds about 3 or 4 seconds to the…

Good piece of hardware

Good piece of iron, as I'm used to from Plextor. Installed it on my Gigabyte Designare X99 with no problems. At my recommendation, my boss bought two more for arrival NEXT Monday. The Order was "lost" in the depths of the Revane jungle. Finally, after two days of battling customer service, I canceled the first order and ordered another one for next day delivery. THE SAME HAPPENED. I finally reached customer service and they told me my NEW ORDER would arrive in two days and they would waive the…

Outstanding performance boost over SATA SSD

The Asus Rampage motherboard I built my i7-6900K 8-core system on a few years ago didn't have a SATA M.2 slot, let alone the M. 2 NVMe slot, although it had enough room for USB 3.0 connectivity. I originally thought about remodeling with a new motherboard, but the user ratings for all the best new motherboards seem disappointing. I decided to keep my current build and add an NVMe board to the PCIe slot. I didn't think I would be so impressed with the speed difference between a SATA SSD and this

Definitely a keeper

Excellent all round performance, comes with heatsink (most other NVMe devices don't). Doesn't pretend to be the fastest (MyDigitalSSD is faster but gets very hot and quickly drops to 1.4GB/s). Performance is in the top quarter of the scale and temperature is well controlled by the heatsink. I would place this device first, right behind Samsung's offerings. There is a throttling issue. With prolonged random reading, the temperature of the device drops to 76 ° C and the firmware slows down too…
