I recently overhauled my girlfriend's 10 year old Dyson DC07 after the clutch broke and this brush was the last to be replaced. I calculated that her old brush has literally been slammed a million times through dirt, dog hair, flakes, broken glass, sand, Lego (those little transparent bits are hard to see!) and anything else you can think of. The old brush wasn't broken or anything, but I figured since everything else is being replaced, why stop at the brush? The physical characteristics of a good cleaning vacuum can be broken down into two parts: suction and brush wand. Pretty simple when you think about it. Either way, this is a genuine James Dyson approved brush, perfect for a vacuum cleaner. The old brush made a little noise when turning, but the new one is quiet. I was curious how worn the old bristles were over the years, so I took a class 3 NASA approved wooden ruler and took some measurements. The new bristles were about 9mm long and the old bristles were about 6mm long. You probably think 3mm isn't that much - and you'd be right if we were talking about hand grenades or horseshoes - but subject Y (my friend) says she can see a noticeable difference in cleaning performance. . As well as restoring bristle length, unsurprisingly, the new bristles are also slightly stiffer. My friend says she notices the vacuum 'pulling' harder on the floor... I envision the new attachment turning her Dyson DC07 into a down-to-earth bloodhound - hot on the trail of escaped convicts from the local dust bunny jail. . Have you ever seen the inside of Dust Bunny's prison? It's not a very pleasant sight. If you're looking for a new brush - whether yours is broken or you just want to breathe new life into your old Dyson - I think you'll be very happy with this one. . Now go take care of those dusty clumps, deputy!
