Well first off these Aircoms products are very cool products that work great but with two design flaws. First, the alarm - The ability to set the temperature alarm works 100% which is great, but the real alarm sound is a joke. It's so quiet it's pointless, especially if your component is in a closet with the door closed. The alarm clock will emit a very gentle beep every 3 seconds. If my component overheats, I want an alarm like a smoke detector to go off before anything gets fried. An alarm clock with an adjustable volume from quiet to very loud would be ideal. Second, the legs - when the legs raise the aircom's case about 5/16" off the stand, inevitably some air is pulled out of the gap around everyone on the sides, not through the component the aircom sits on and which should be cooled . Definitely loss of cooling performance. This is easily fixed with Home Depot ΒΌ-inch EDPM Gasket ($7). Simply place the gasket around the entire perimeter with a snug fit around the legs, creating an enclosure around the perimeter. There's still a small gap, but now the fans are pushing almost all of the air through the component that cools the aircom. Further Modification WARNING. Only perform this further modification if you are not putting "any" additional weight or components on the Aircom. . There is a small temperature sensor on the underside of the chassis which will be damaged if weight is placed on the chassis after this mod. Modification - I've gone one step further and removed the legs completely from the Aircom T9 chassis and installed EDPM around the edges with pressure shock seals. Now my Aircom ONLY sits on a zero gap seal around the perimeter. Now absolutely 100% of the air that the fans pull goes through my pre/pro. I also think temperature readings should be more accurate and cold air doesn't escape from the side gaps. Overall, this is a highly recommended product, especially for receivers, amplifiers, and any high-temperature components in closets or tight shelves.
