My cats never eat whole cans and I try to buy good food. So if I serve a whole can, it goes to waste. These lids make it easier to store open food jars (in the fridge). I was a little skeptical about the material it's made of (sort of silicone/soft plastic), it doesn't look like it's supposed to work, but it does. They're actually a lot easier to put on than the more common hard plastic ones, I don't usually have time to wrestle with them and end up just tossing the whole can in the cat's bowl. They are flexible and therefore easier to use. The jars are well sealed with lids and the lids are suitable for jars of different sizes. I use them for small cans of cat food. They cost a little more than the hard plastic you can buy cheaply at the pet store, but they're worth it. Will definitely save me money in the long run.
