I have 2 hamsters that live in separate garbage cages. This sand comes with a small amount of dust. What's IMPORTANT is getting sand that doesn't have a lot of dust like this. Hamsters die from too much dust. ಥ_ಥ When I get a sack of sand I put it on a flat baking sheet and after preheating the oven to 180 I leave it in the oven for 30 minutes. (There will be a bad odor/burnt smell, but that's normal) After that, let it cool down, take it out of the oven and put it in a separate container and you'll see the dust from the sand before you're done and THROW IT.
