Review on Transcend 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card - Best Performance and Storage for Digital Devices: TS4GSDHC6 by Jason Flores

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent performance, reliable compatibility

I bought this Class 6 SDHC card for my new Canon G9 about 4 months ago because I needed a high speed SDHC card for my new camera. Since I've had it, I've swapped it between the Canon G9 and my SD800 depending on whether I was going to a point and shoot event or if I could hang the G9 around my neck and use it. Performance has been great so far, I've been bursting for 45 seconds with my G9 (10MP camera) before the wedding and the card records it all with no issues and lets me just hold the button and fire shot after shot. Considering the raw number of bytes the camera processes and writes during a burst session, it looks like a heck of a lot that it's writing that many MB/s. For cleaning was the G9, which he handles with ease. Also swapping the card between cameras while filming was never a problem as the card seems to work seamlessly with all my SD based Canons. I've never had to reformat a card or anything like that. An easy feature to buy this card is the combination of performance, compatibility and price. You can buy 4 of these devices and just swap them out if you are a serious photographer. I shoot 600-800 10-megapixel photos per memory card at 4-6 megabytes per image, so I really can't imagine you needing more. than one of these, unless you're a professional photographer shooting with a trigger finger at 12MP or more. But in this case, you probably want to play it safe and use more cards just in case one of them fails. I heard this advice from some photographer friends; that you never want to buy a card larger than 4GB, if you fill it up and it fails you will lose hundreds and hundreds of photos at the same time. Therefore, having multiple 4GB cards seems to be the best choice between security and convenience in most cases.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some small things
