Good battery compartment. I had to change a bit to keep it closed. The body splits in half to allow you to load the cells. There are 2 small tabs on the top of the case to keep it closed and a latch on the bottom. The latch on the bottom didn't click into place once the cells were in place. Inside the case is a small bulkhead where the latch forms a 1/4 inch cavity. I took a thin piece of cardboard and stuck it into this cavity until it pushed the latch far enough to keep it closed. After these 5 minutes the correction was done, he was well prepared. It may be a tolerance issue with my particular device and others may not have this issue. The problem isn't big enough to stop me buying another pair for other radios.
