Review on πŸ”Š VIVO Premium 23" Universal Floor Speaker Stands for Surround Sound and Bookshelf Speakers, Pack of 2, STAND-SP02B by Robert Hunter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great speaker stands for $$.

In my 40+ years in the Hi-Fi and AV industry I have owned several speaker stands. These 22" tall VIVO speaker stands replace several shorter solid oak stands I bought from a reputable online car audio and home audio/video retailer, probably 20 years ago. The stands are used with KEF C20 speakers which I bought in the mid 80's and they still work well and work great with our Samsung 4K Smart TV, Marantz A/V Receiver and matching glass TV/VIVO -Component stand that was previously purchased. .I was a bit suspicious of them before purchasing due to the negative reviews about the build quality control and possible damage in transit. Apparently this company in China has listened to the complaints. First, the packaging was very well done with lots of foam, plastic corners to reinforce the box and the strapping of the original box. The aluminum tubes are made from fairly thin billet aluminum, but mine were perfectly round with no dents or scratches. The top and bottom glass panels were fine, no scratches or cracks. I use coasters on fairly deep pile carpets and the carpet spikes do the job well. They're a bit more wobbly than the oak bases they replaced, but the oak bases were also very heavy and had a slightly larger baseplate. A note: VIVO includes rubber feet that fit carpet spikes, which answers the complaints of those wanting to use them on hardwood floors. So VIVO listens to the complaints of the reviewers! The instructions were very clear, albeit brief. You can tell the instructions I received were updated from previous versions as they talked about using the floorboards and installing the rubber feet on the carpet spikes. they have slots at the top and bottom of the vertical aluminum tube. However, this poses a small problem: if you need to lift and move stands, you are limited by the cable length from the A/V receiver. So I installed a pair of Anderson PowerPole connectors on each speaker wire about 6-8 inches from the bottom of the stands. This makes it easy to remove the stand and speaker elsewhere for carpet cleaning or to access - in my case - the VIVO A/V stand and its many ports. Anderson PowerPole connectors are primarily used for DC electrical connections such as: B. 13.8 V DC power supplies, but they are excellent for transferring audio frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz from an A/V receiver or power amplifier. I checked. When these connectors are used to carry audio frequencies, the loss in dB, or a very small fraction of it, is zero. The connectors aren't necessarily easy to attach to speaker wire - unless you're experienced with Anderson PowerPoles, as the connectors require a special crimping tool that fits into the plastic housing of each positive and negative connector. Overall, I'm very happy with the value of the VIVO speaker.
