Research shows that sitting as far backwards as possible is very important for child safety. It does, however, offer some restrictions on where children can sit in the car and makes it a real pleasure to buckle and unbuckle. We decided that if we taught our oldest to buckle herself, we wouldn't have to climb in the back of the van as often. So we're back to strapping her in, but now she can unbuckle herself with this tool. She is responsible enough to know when to detach (when the car is off). I know some parents don't give them back to their kids until they've stopped completely, and this seems like a good solution if your kid lacks impulsive control. It was wonderful. My daughter also sometimes helps my son out of the car seat when I'm "too tall". This is just an amazing addition to our auto routine! My 5 year old has mastered this tool, but my 3 year old will be able to do it if he can set it properly. Still a win in my book!
