This is the second one I've tried. While I like them for filing, smoothing out burrs, etc., they don't really make a shiny, painted nail. I remember using multiple grit boards for hand sanding/polishing and was able to get a really high gloss finish. This nail polisher may polish to a matte finish, but it still doesn't compare to the hand buffing boards I remember using. So I bought one of these hand buffers and compared them to make sure I'm remembering correctly. Wow what a difference! The handbuff gave my nails a glossy, glassy finish, while the nail clipper went no further than a satin finish. I will continue to use the machine for everything else, but for the final polish I will be using hand boards.
