Compare with MastaPlasta - Easy to apply plaster

Update: downgraded to 3 stars. After 1.5 months, in two places where I used Pelle patches on the sidearms, both patches curled up and came off, indicating not very good adhesion and durability. To be fair, both badges are in awkward places on the side arm and this may have contributed. At some point I might try MastaPlasta again (which has held up well on my back so far). First Review: Extremely easy to use. It's not as thick as MastaPlasta patches (which are likely to offer longer life), but its lower profile and smoothness make it lighter and not as clunky to the touch. I actually ordered both MastaPlasta and this patch because I didn't know which would work best for my chair. I decided to use both. In the before and after photos below, the large main holes on the back have been patched with MastaPlasta and those on the side shoulder have been sewn with this Pelle patch. Both came out fine, but as said, the Pelle patch is smoother and fits better. While they worked well for the side lever, I'm not sure I'd want to use Pelle Patch on big holes on my back because it doesn't seem as durable as MastaPlasta and as it's a spot that's likely to be a lot Wear and tear, I'm not sure Pelle Patch can handle that either. Again, I really don't know, and as far as I know MastaPlasta won't last long either - time will tell. Another difference between the two brands is that MastaPlasta already has rounded corners, so you don't have to cut as much. Since I used the entire MastaPlasta sheet for the back of the chair, I didn't have to cut the corners for this at all and could just glue them on, whereas with this Pelle patch I had to round off the corners myself (which of course is very easy), but maybe not as professional as pre-cut corners). Ultimately, I think both brands of patches seem to have their merits and which is the "best" probably depends on the application at hand. But don't be afraid to try Pelle Patch.

Pros
  • Thin and strong! The Pelle Patch is made from high quality faux leather that is extremely durable yet thin enough to pair perfectly with existing leather.
Cons
  • I don't have much animosity about it, everything is fine
