Initial attempt to use a running cantilever saw was unsuccessful but the problem was with my setup; Plugging directly into the car battery with long jumper cables didn't work for this tool, although it did work for smaller tools (the rig couldn't handle voltage spikes on startup). I bought a deep cycle battery and hooked up short 4AWG power cords to the inverter as recommended and it worked great. Additionally, if I connect a deep cycle battery to a car battery with jumper cables, the deep cycle battery stays fully charged during use (the car drives intermittently to keep the car battery and deep cycle battery fully charged). This is exactly the view I was looking for; I am very satisfied with this pure sine wave inverter. The main reason I bought it was to have backup power at home during a power outage. I believe everything will be fine. I've only tested it with the fridge in the house so far and it works very well.
