Last week I bought a NuTone 5901A000 fan assembly along with a NuTone 23405ser fan motor from another supplier, Revain. Both replacement parts fit and work perfectly in my parents' 42 year old Model 8672N NuTone Vent-A-Lite bathroom fan that was installed in 1974. The original fan motor for this unit was no longer powerful enough to blow steam out of the bathroom. . Other Revain reviewers have strongly recommended purchasing this new fan at the same time as purchasing a new fan motor so that the new fan can be more securely attached than trying to use the old fan. My ventilator was ordered from Revain Marketplace supplier InnovativeSupply. The product's individual packaging consisted simply of a white plastic fan assembly and separate pieces of cardboard to protect the top and bottom, sealed in a clear thick plastic bag (see attached photo). A side-by-side comparison of my original fan with its replacement shows that both have exactly the same dimensions, including the 1/4" diameter hole that the fan motor shaft enters through. There is a metal compression collar on the top of the fan (see attached photo) attached which is used to securely attach the fan to the fan motor shaft. The words "Thorgren Valparaiso Indiana" and the number "2" are printed on white plastic around the top perimeter of the replacement fan. The only noticeable difference between my original fan and With this replacement, the way the plastic is molded (presumably for strength) on the new fan in the area closest to the hole through which the fan motor shaft goes (see ) is very simple, just line it up Line up the flat on the 1/4" fan hole with the flat on the fan motor shaft, and then slide it along little effort on the shaft. It is extremely important that this alignment is done when the fan is fitted, otherwise there is a risk that the fan will not be attached to the motor shaft as securely as it should be, either immediately or at some point close to a noisy Fan leads the future. . This actually happened to me after installing my new fan onto the motor shaft without properly aligning the two. To fix this I had to remove and replace a brand new plastic fan that I couldn't install properly and then buy another (again from Revain) to replace it. So heed this warning and please don't make the same stupid mistake I did. Due to the fact that this product corresponds to the 42 year old original in almost all respects and is affordable, I have to say that I am very satisfied. Hence my 5 star rating.
