I'm upgrading my RP to R5. To be honest the photo quality is as expected. The user experience is much better than my RP with new control buttons and richer software features. The best I've found is a much better viewfinder that makes me feel like I'm in a tiny cinema. However, I'm not giving a 5-star rating as I'm disappointed with Canon's poor design for internal thermal management. I'm not looking for unlimited 8k or 4k HQ video recording, but there's no technical justification for not having unlimited 4k 60fps. An S1H for almost the same price can record 6K indoors in 10-bit 4:2:2 V-LOG with no heat issues. If you're looking for a camcorder, unless you need to record 8k twice a day for 20 minutes, you can look around for other alternatives. (Oh, you can bring a decent fridge, which can really help reduce recovery time.) If you have the cash and aren't so keen on upgrading your camera, you might want to wait until Canon comes out with a better 8k/6k camera brings out which can record much longer than 20 minutes and much shorter cool down time. I'm assuming Canon has a big map where the R5 is just a pioneer, saving the camera market and giving end users like me (limited) 8k options, so I'm finding a reason to update all my stuff, including Graphics card and monitor to process raw 8k video. In short, I love this camera, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people.
