Bought to use with a range of external hard drives. Did a test today with a Seagata 5TB Backup Plus Portable plugged into a small power strip plugged into the hub and a 10ft USB extender cable plugged into the cable coming out of the hub came. That does not work. Tried the same connections on a Sabrent hub (no switches), it worked fine. Curious as to why, I pulled out my trusty Ruideng USB power meter and found that the hub draws 0.3-0.5 amps of power *from the computer* when plugged in, even though it's connected to AC power. My Sabrent hub only drew about 0.001 amps from the computer with the same setup. The hub looks good, the buttons are very clicky, nice and easy to press, and it's small. The material is nice to the touch but doesn't lend itself to hanging a command bar if that's what you want. The biggest problem is the amount of energy that goes into it. The power supply says it only supplies 1 amp to the hub while the adapter for my Sabrent hub supplies 4 amps. So this Windyoung hub will definitely rely on your computer to provide extra performance, which for some may defeat the purpose.
