I've been trying for a few weeks now. This Litter Genie might seem like a good idea, but it's not. Don't let the brilliant marketing and positive reviews fool you. like i had. Here are the main issues: 1) The top and bottom are hinged at the back and attached at the front with a plastic button attached to a tab that hangs from the top half and fits into a hole in the bottom half. That knob just doesn't hold the two halves together. 2) The top and bottom halves don't fit well together. I spent a full 5 minutes getting the top half to properly hook the bottom half. It's a struggle every time. Since the plastic button doesn't work and the top and bottom halves don't fit well together, using this junk is an absolute nightmare as it falls apart EVERY TIME! 3) The lightweight plastic door above doesn't smell because there is NO SEAL and the slide out divider just doesn't do the job. 4) The smell of stale old poop stored at the bottom of the Genine bedding is worse than if the poop were left in the pan. At least the filler itself can somewhat reduce the smell with the help of chemicals. 5) The inner edge of the top half is covered with feces and sticky filler; No matter how carefully the waste is directed into the interior - you will end up cleaning this area often. 6) The sac at the top of the pull out divider gets VERY covered in feces and sticky debris due to litter getting into that area (apparently on purpose). ) every time Litter Genie is used. 7) The shovel basket falls out almost every time the shovel is removed as it is only held in place by two small tabs. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! Real experience ALWAYS refutes bad design and clever marketing. .NOT RECOMMENDED! UPDATE: 4/4/19 The following items, used together, EXCEED any expectations you could have of this product. Just put some powder at the bottom of the bucket and use the awesome waste bags. and easy to use. The bucket has a rubberized lid and an easily removable lid. The powder stops any odors that are unlikely to linger. INCREDIBLE COMBINATION! ABSOLUTELY NO SMELL! YOU WILL BE SO SO HAPPY! Collect as much junk.
