Review on πŸ“€ Sony BDPS3200 Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi - 2014 Model by Bruce Marable

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Sony Blu-ray won't stay on.

We bought this for ourselves as a Christmas present and it only played a couple of movies before it started to have serious problems. The Sony Blu-ray player was used very little in the 2 months following Christmas, so we didn't realize it was defective. Now it just turns on and then off again (from a few seconds to 1 minute). If you're lucky, it will play one of the previews before turning off. But in most cases it just turns on and then immediately turns off again. To complicate matters further, the remote appears to be using the same frequency as our new Vizio TV. When we press the play button on the Sony Blu-ray remote control, the TV and the Blu-ray player turn off. Since Blu-ray only has 2 buttons (eject and power), we can't play movies the old-fashioned way (by pressing the control buttons on the player itself). My advice is if you're buying a Sony Blu-ray, make sure your TV and Blu-ray are compatible, and test it out with more movies before the 30-day return period expires. Update: We switched the device to an older TV. The power outage issue appears to be due to incompatibility with (some?) new TVs. As we bought this unit specifically for use on a big screen TV, things get tricky if it doesn't work on newer TVs that take advantage of HD resolution. And it's not clear why the Blu-ray player first played movies with a new TV, and then stopped working with the same TV. Sony needs to specify which TVs it works/doesn't work with if this device only works with specific TV models.
