I wanted some glass to play with some soft solder jewelry projects. That means I cut a piece of glass (I have a cutter and pliers designed for this purpose), wrap it in copper foil tape, apply flux and solder, and add staples and/or jump rings to make pendants and links . etc. I try with all sorts of items (glass like this, sea glass, some semi-precious stones, etc.). I needed a lot of glass to practice before I started making things that I want to show everyone, so I bought this one. There is a good selection of colors, transparencies etc. Mine didn't match the official product image 100% (the product description says it won't) but there was definitely some overlap. As I said, I did not receive any duplicates. I use colors I don't really like for practice and then save the gem tones (my favorites) for formal projects. I've found each color's performance to be on par with others in terms of grading, cutting, etc. The thickness is fine for my purposes (but it doesn't matter how thick the glass pendant is). I think this range is probably best for a beginner. As you get more advanced you will likely need more of each color and/or a selection of your own colors (for example if you are making mosaics or stained glass). But if you're just trying to master glasswork in one of several skills, then this is a good starter kit. I have not received any duplicates.
