The best you can use for shielding a guitar cavity.

I have Strats with single coils and humming is what they do. I use this in every Strat I own to reduce electrical noise and would estimate 90% effectiveness. Some single coils cannot be silenced but this really helps.Neatness is not important. Conductivity is. Add this to the bottom of the pickguard and all throughout the pickup cavity. Overlap each piece just enough to ensure they touch and have continuity. Allow a tiny amount to overlap the cavity so it makes contact with the pickguard. Don't

Pros
  • The color was perfect and it easily covered a hole in the item.
Cons
  • Not as conductive as other materials

overlapping the tape maintained solid continuity

I was concerned that in building the faraday cage in my Fender Jazz bass, that the tape would have to be soldered at the seams, or I would have to solder in jumper wires in order to maintain continuity. After installing the tape, allowing about 1/8" overlap with each piece, it worked out PERFECT! now I have a perfect faraday cage that dramatically reduced the electromagnetic noise that come from single coil pickups. Good Stuff!

Pros
  • Lead & Foil
Cons
  • Can be difficult to cut to size

Great Guitar Shielding

It worked wonderfully for my guitar shielding. Easily shaped with an exacto knife to fit. And, sticky adhesive held well with no curling. I don't know what else anyone would want to use it for honestly. But, as guitar shielding it's fantastic. I had enough to do two Strats, a Les Paul, and a Telecaster. With a bit left over. So, the volume is nice too. I can easily recommend this to guitarists looking to eliminate as much 60hz hum as they can. Otherwise, it's unknown.

Pros
  • It did what i wanted
Cons
  • May be too expensive for some

I used this to shield the pickup and control cavities of a Fender P-Bass. It has completely eliminated all EMI and RFI noise that was coming through the new Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickup that I installed. It seems a bit thicker than the last roll of copper shielding tape that I purchased (a good thing, in my opinion). The adhesive is conductive (important in this application) and it sticks in place nicely. Take your time and exercise patience when cutting and placing the tape, and it…

Cons
  • May not be flexible enough for certain uses

Great product. Small technical issues to be aware of

This was a great product for shielding my strat. I was getting hum from 60Hz that went away when I ever I touched the strings. This fixed the problem and was easy to do. Be prepared for the foil to spring away from its backing. There is a small learning curve in figuring out to handle this the first time.Just an FYI. After my install I hadGrounding issues where the selector switch and the input jack were grounding to the foil, Wrapping some insulation tape at potential contact points fixed the…

Pros
  • First quality copper tape
Cons
  • May be too thick and bulky for some applications

Faraday cage with Copper tape

I used the copper tape to line the cavities for my pickups to prevent hum on the amplifiers. I used it to tape the cavity and connect all the cavities together with the tape or with a wire. The tape can overlap because the tape glue conducts electricity. I taped the bottom of the pick guards and put the guitar back together. The hum was reduced substantially. Examples of how to do this are on the internet. I recommend doing this to any guitars with a hum which is associated with single coil…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • May not be strong enough to provide adequate shielding

Keeps the slugs away!

I bought this because slugs were destroying my bell peppers. I didn't want to use chemicals because I have a dog who eats everything. Diatomaceous earth wasn't cutting it, and I took a chance on this. It worked! The next day, there was a track that stopped at the tape! It's been on there for about two weeks now and no more damage! I'm not sure how well it'll stick long term since I'm using fabric pots, but even if I have to replace it, that's fine by me because it works.

Pros
  • Stained Glass Making
Cons
  • May not be suitable for high temperature applications

Worthy organic slug control!

I had to test it myself. So many people were saying it works for slugs, so many said it didn’t work. Well, it worked like magic for me! I finally picked full ripe strawberries out of my planter this morning with no bites taken out. I found a slug that was on the wall of my house, moved him over to the planter to test out the tape. As you can see, it worked. Stopped it dead in its slime trail, and even an hour later it’s in the same spot not even attempting to move. Now THAT is a worthy organic…

Pros
  • First copper tape I ever used in an electric guitar.
Cons
  • May not be as durable as other materials

Excellent shielding for guitar cavity

I would probably have gone for thicker shielding tape if I'd thought about it because it is easier to to shape and apply thicker tape without tearing and crumpling. This worked quite well, however. I saw at least one review mention that it didn't adhere well. It does. Just give it a day. I decided to redo the first shielding I did with this because, even though it worked well, I'd done a crappy looking job. It was most certainly solidly adhered as compared to when first applied.

Pros
  • Used for shielding my guitar. So far no hum.
Cons
  • May oxidize over time

Easy to work with. I am very satisfied.

Used this to shield all the cavities in an old Rogue bass guitar I found in a trash bin. The bass played well and had good tone except for the buzz/hum with the tone turned towards the treble. Did the following: 1) Put in the tape as a shield 2) soldered a wire from one cavity to the other 3) checked with a multi-meter making sure that all showed low resistance from one cavity throughout the bass. After all that plugged in the bass and ran tests through an amp with bright on, compression, gain…

Pros
  • It was easy to work with.It conducts electricity
Cons
  • May not adhere well to certain surfaces

Not sure this will work for slug control but will try

Got it for slug control. This is a nice quality product, and it arrived quickly. It's not made for slug control, but I thought I'd try it because others have used it for that. The copper tape is very thin, and it is sticky with a paper backing that you peel off. I hoped it would be stiffer so I could make "cuffs" to go around the base of plants to repel slugs. But, I did put it on a clay pot and I used it in a couple of other ways around plants. I'll update with slug control results…

Pros
  • Only used it once but seemed to work as expected.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to apply without wrinkles or bubbles

DId My Whole Guitar Cavity with Plenty to Spare

I used this on my Tele build and am very happy. I had continuity from all sides and my single coils sound great. I have used aluminum foil in the past, which I felt did nothing, and am very happy with the copper. What I like it was very easy to use, even in the hard to reach places like down to the output jack. Just take the time to fold it in place, then flatten out to adhese it.Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Long-lasting performance
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain adhesives or sealants

Keeps the snails out, easy to install

Seems to keep the snails out of my herb planter. The adhesive has worked pretty well and was easy to install, but the tape is separating from the planter a bit. I expected this as the planter is wooden bound to expand and contract. I may need to staple in place, but so far it is still hang on. I'm happy with it.

Pros
  • Provides excellent grounding performance
Cons
  • May not be compatible with all types of paints or coatings

It's Easy to Apply

I got this copper foil tape to wrap around an outdoor container I planted catnip herb in. The catnip was flourishing in the container but it was constantly being eaten by snails and slugs. So, I got this tape, cleaned all the snails/slugs (that I could find) out of the container and wrapped this tape around the outside of the container. It was very easy to trim and apply (it's thin, like aluminum foil, after you remove the paper backing). Supposedly, snails/slugs will not cross the copper tape…

Pros
  • High electrical conductivity
Cons
  • May not be easy to find replacement rolls

Great for making TV antennas.

I tried to make copper tubing stiffer by using wood dowels, and learned to use dowels the right size and just cover with copper tape. Stick it on windows and use as antennas. wow

Pros
  • Resistant to vibration and shock
Cons
  • May not be suitable for certain environmental conditions

Listen up you grounders/earthers

I love this product. I do not own a soldering gun, but this product is a perfect substitute for my purposes. I wanted a softer more conductive wrist band; this product made it easy to make. I just took the clunky wrist band that I bought for $5.99, ripped out the 100K resistor, and slapped the tape all over the wrist band. It also made for a perfect connection portal to my conductive sheet. I was afraid that it would be thick and uncomfortable. Not so. It is very thin and pliable, and the…

Pros
  • Easy to store and transport
Cons
  • May not be suitable for curved surfaces

This is the way to do it!

My advice is not to waste time with aluminum foil, duct tape, or any of the supposed "cheap" ways to shield your guitar. This is a great product! Easy to work with, the adhesive is strong and the copper is the right combination of strength and pliability. I put down a layer to make sure every nook and cranny was covered, then went back with a top layer to get my outline and clean it up a little bit. This was a fun project. I used about half the roll on one guitar, but I did a double…

Pros
  • Can be used to repair and replace damaged wires and cables
Cons
  • May not be as effective in humid environments

Works like a charm!

We have bought several rolls and this tape, when wrapped around recycled cans with top and bottoms of the cans removed, really works to keep slugs off out planting/seedlings.

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • May not be suitable for outdoor use

Effective for slugs!

I bought this copper tape to deter the slugs from eating my citrus flowers and strawberries. It definitely worked. I was able to see some blossoms on my citrus only after using this tape. Wish I had known this product earlier.

Pros
  • Lightweight and flexible
Cons
  • May not be as versatile as other materials

Great price, good quantity, works well

I used this to line the inside of a small craft box to make a Faraday cage. Worked great, and the adhesive sticks firmly to a clean lightweight wood surface. Tip: the instructions warn to be cautious handling the tape and it can be sharp. Heed this warning. It didn't seem like it was that sharp when I was working with it, but the edges are thin metal after all and are indeed sharp. After I'd finished my project I washed my hands and discovered I had multiple superficial cuts like paper cuts on…

Pros
  • Offers superior protection against static electricity
Cons
  • May not provide enough adhesive strength
