was a longtime subscriber when Sirius and XM were separate companies. I was a devoted listener from 2004 to 2011. Well, in an attempt to save where I could, I got rid of my SkyFi 2 receiver and all vehicles and home gear. Fast forward to 2018. . 1 song and 35 minutes of advertising. No thank you. So I return to Sirius-XM. called and turned on the radio. All support staff speak broken English. I decided to go to Amazon and buy this device. Keep in mind that you'll pay anywhere from $80 to $130 for it in retail stores. Therefore, buying from Amazon was an easy task for me. I studied several devices before deciding on this one. I liked my skyfi-2 back then, but it was quite big and unwieldy. and you had to use 12V UGLY cigarette adapter for power supply. I wanted the installation to be very clean with no wires. This block is very slim and fits well with the climate controls on my 2016 Corolla. The sound is amazing, beautiful and clear. (I used an auxiliary plug), no FM modulator. Sound quality and excellent channel selection. Now for the bad. - very small touch screen - multiple functions and different ways to scroll show different settings. - very prone to fingerprints/smudges - NO REMOTE (real bone head motion, siriusxm) what were you thinking? I will order the remote control as soon as possible. while the device is still running, a remote control would be very helpful. I suggest you print out the manual pages online and have them for reference. All they give you with the device is a quick start guide that doesn't explain much. All in all it could have been a lot better if they had included a remote control. I chose this one mainly because of its size. it is not plug and play. direct hard wiring to the vehicle is required. Have a professional install it again. this will save you a lot of disappointment. I haven't even tried to do it myself. I just took it to my local stereo shop and asked for it to be installed. This is a more economical way to enjoy siriusxm in your car. My 2016 Corolla has a touchscreen radio. I did some shopping and found that I could replace a 300k-700k factory radio with a good aftermarket Apple Carplay model. It wouldn't be that bad, but with all the bluetooth controls and steering wheel, antenna adapters, etc, it would add another 150.00 or so to the price, and that's before installation. I'm not comfortable doing it myself, too many wires and fragile trim pieces that break easily. I would have easily spent 600.00 replacing the radio and getting a Siriusxm tuner add-on. this is my current setup, the factory radio and touchpad together only cost 168.00. 68.00 for Commander and 100.00 for installation in a garage. Updates 06/08/18*** After further reading I found that my Commander Touch needs a software update. You will need an Insignia 0.06m On the Go Micro USB Adapter Micro USB Adapter Cable (NS-MOTGD-C) - Black and a USB flash drive. The update port is located on the bottom of the device. Go to the siriusxm website and download the update, unzip the files and place it on your USB drive. Format the drive and delete everything except these two update files. Plug in the USB adapter and then the USB stick. Follow the instructions and update the software. The upgrades make Commander Touch MUCH EASIER to navigate. With the update you can also order the universal SiriusXM remote control v2.0 for use with touch screens. The remote control WILL NOT WORK unless you perform a software update. the latest software version ends in .36 (my software ends in .26 so I knew I needed an update). I'm not sure why siriusxm didn't include it at all. But now that I've updated the software, I'm just waiting for the arrival of the remote control. I ordered the remote control from Amazon. I really like the software update. greatly simplifies device navigation. To do this, download the manual, you will need it. This is available on the siriusxm website or via a google search. Update from 06/11/18**** got the remote control today. worked great! Just remember that you need to do a software update, otherwise the remote control will not work. This remote control makes the radio perfect. I am very happy now. Update from 15.08.18*** is coming! I love the remote control and the software update. now it works perfectly. Make sure to update the software if you buy this. Must have remote control. Good job Sirius XM. Update 3 Mar 21 *** Still runs fine with no issues except for one instance where the display was stuck and wouldn't turn off. very easy to fix, just unplug the battery negative cable for 10 seconds and retighten, done. 3 years of excellent service for this radio. I love siriusxm
