The applicator must first apply an even bead of material to the surface. It can do this if you first take the time to cut the hole exactly how you want it. Second, the size of this nozzle means that a lot of material is left in the applicator and not used. I haven't tried cleaning it as I'm not sure I can because the inner mold has areas that block any type of mechanical cleaning.
