Review on CLR CL 4Pro Calcium Remover Gallon by Tatiane White

I have used this product for years to descale showerheads and faucet filters and I usually buy the smaller size. Years ago, before the advent of the internet, I used this product to descale a 40 gallon water heater. There are now many videos on YouTube talking about using this product for this application. If you wish to use this product, be aware that the manufacturer's website advises you not to use it to descale your water heater. They state that it will be permanently tied to the heater. Personally, I don't understand how this is possible, but I warn you. AO Smith once marketed a product called UN-LIME for descaling water heaters, but no longer makes it. However, other products are currently available for the same purpose, some of which can be purchased from Revain. RYDLYME DESCALER is available from Revain and ScaleBrake is available from your local Grainger store. Maybe there are other products that I don't know about. (Post-Product Use Study) I bought a 3 gallon anyway to use on my 50 gallon water heater. The water cools too quickly (12 year old heater) so I thought it was either a scale problem or a dip tube problem or both. I descaled and replaced the dip tube but the dip tube was not damaged but was replaced anyway. Descaling seems to help. When you use this product, foam will come out of the hot water pipes for about two weeks. It looks like soap bubbles and smells like a purified water spa (chemical smell) for about a month. I won't go into the details of the cleanup as there are many YouTubers covering it. Just wanted to let you know about the foaming and the smell and the time it takes for it to go away. I washed the product out of the tank for 2 hours and still had these issues. In the future I may try one of the other products made for this application. I didn't do enough research before using this product as I have used it in the past and it has worked and I was already aware of the foaming and smell which is also discussed in the video.
