Screws complete nonsense

While the hinges and clasp seem decent for the price, the screws are an absolute no-brainer. The first two I tried to use broke off at the head after carefully hand tightening them into the pre-drilled holes. Now I need to figure out how to get these things out of my homemade box without ruining it.
