It sucks - aquarium pumps and filters

Well this thing does the job. I bought this monster to adequately filter one side of my 125 and it sucks and moves water accurately. However, I am a little concerned about the quality of the product and may not be able to keep it. I understand that this filter is one of the cheapest on the market. What did I expect? Best quality at a low price? No not at all. But I don't think this filter will last more than a year or two, if you're lucky, three. I have had some filters for over 10 years. What's good about them. Like I said, it sucks. It really moves the water. This filter gives you the option of either a single socket or a wand extension, if I had to guess I'd say 24 inches. It comes with everything you need to set up basic filtration, including a ton of ilter pads and floss, and some bacterial colony material. It's easy to set up and get started. It only took me ten minutes from start to finish. When you're ready to start it up, it has a simple refill button that you press a few times to get water into the filter. You don't have to remove the hoses for maintenance. It has valve switches to prevent water leaking in the hoses, just turn them off and unplug. What's wrong with that? Obvious cheapness. The handles on the baskets seem to loosen in your hand and certainly don't feel like they won't deteriorate over time like cheap plastic. The carrying baskets are fairly shallow, maybe an inch and a half deep. If you are a serious aquarium enthusiast and want to add peat moss, crushed coral or other material, there isn't much you can add. Finally noise. In comparison, this thing isn't quiet. I have several aquariums at home with external filters. Penn Plax Cascade is the only one I listen to. It sounds like a distant industrial area or a jet engine. I'm having a hard time getting used to the noise.

Pros
