Arrived faster than I thought. The device is well made and does not look first class. I put it on my helmet and took it off for the hike. This is the best digital night vision device I have ever used. The 940nm illuminator is a COMPLETE upgrade from previous versions. With IR4, I can't even see the emitter's red glow with the naked eye from 15 feet away, and the backlighting from the screen to the user's face at backlight level 4 is negligible. At these values, I was able to run for 2 hours on a set of NiMH AA batteries. I prefer field replaceable batteries over old built in rechargeable batteries. The only issue I found was having to wear reading glasses because there is no diopter adjustment on the screen unless I missed something. But that's ok because I have excellent distance vision, but now I need reading glasses for near vision. I've found reading glasses fog up after an hour in the woods, but maybe I can find anti-fog readers. I'm used to Noroto's Rhino mounts, but I have a GoPro mount and am very impressed. The unit is fairly light for its size, and the light counterweight made the whole setup a breeze. The focus adjustment works well. I often switch between close, medium and far targets and the focus knob fine tunes but seems to stay where you put it. I'm not used to zooming, not even a little zoom with nod, but I've found it can be handy if you're watching from one position. If you can't tell. I really like this unit. If Nightfox asked me if I'd like to see something in a future model, I'd say that a slightly wider field of view would be nice and full color, like the Syonix Aurora. Because one difference between digital and 2nd gen NVG is that it's a bit harder for me to distinguish between rocks, roots and leaves moving up and down a slope as they are very similar digitally in terms of depth perception compared to the 2nd generation. a little more time in the woods helps. This device is excellent value for money. Finally. Digital night vision device I can work with and trust.
