Description of Nightfox Cape Night Vision Goggles - 1x Magnification, Infrared 940nm, Video Recording, 55yd Range, Airsoft Compatible

1x MAGNIFICATION: When it comes to using night vision on the move, the best magnification is no magnification. COVERT: A 940nm wavelength infrared LED means reduced visible red glow from the front of the device, so you can roam unseen. MOUNT TO A HELMET: A GoPro-compatible mounting bracket on the top of the Cape means you can use third party camera mounts to attach your Nightfox Cape to a tactical helmet. AIRSOFT READY: Replaceable lens caps for both the IR bulb and the digital sensor are there to help protect the optics in airsoft matches. CONVENIENT: One-button recording (micro SD card required, not included) and one-button screen brightness adjustment, saving you scrolling through menus in the middle of the action.

Attaches to HHV ballistic helmet, 1x, minimal lag

This is a digital night vision scope I was able to mount to a Hard Head Veteran ballistic helmet using the Brain Exploder GoPro mount. I wouldn't plan on getting into a firefight with him because of the slight delay, but you can see in the dark and the other guy most likely can't. It's great to have while saving on a quality item. I was able to use them comfortably while putting on my Oakley prescription glasses and the digital image seems clear enough to remove the steel plates. The…

IR LIGHT OFF CENTER!

IR off-center, IR illuminates half the screen diagonally from bottom left to top right. There is no normal daytime color video display. The viewing screen is so blurry that it's hard to tell if the subject is in focus. My $100 Gen 1 NV tube is much sharper and performs better in ambient light than these. Hands-free required 1x NV display with recording function. The DVRs in my car work better than this thing, they are 1/4 the size and have 1080p and 4k resolution. I wasn't expecting much, but…

Effective and affordable night vision

I rarely do out of the box reviews. This article is worth it. Build wise it is very good and Nightfox pays attention to detail with a neat case and neck strap. I will mount it on a helmet with the included sturdy hardware. The buttons and menu options are very logical and easy to use. Wavelength 940nm - it's just a huge win, as is the 1x magnification. Even at arm's length you can barely see the illuminator's glow. The backlight is adjustable and for good use when you need to remain…

Big effort but some critical design flaws

I have to start by saying I had other 1st generation night vision devices, these digital devices have a lot of potential and I was very excited about them. The IR illuminator works great. Very bright, I'm impressed! Wide range of sizes. Night vision works really well, but there are other issues. The screen focus is not set on your eyes, so some people cannot focus on the screen. The screen has a very low resolution. 320 x 200. This was the most disappointing part. That means anything beyond…

Swing and miss: Shooting

I didn't expect much for the cape's low price, but got less. It was well packaged and looked great in the box when opened. The layout of the buttons and their functions were good. The rubber where your face meets the cape is too stiff, small and flimsy. Because of this, the screen inside illuminates parts of your face and the sides of your head when in use. I could ignore these issues, but the device I received did not focus at any distance. The focus knob worked because it made the image look…

Infrared camera with IR illuminator

An interesting device, in fact it is a digital infrared video camera with hidden IR lighting. I wouldn't really classify it as night vision as it doesn't amplify the ambient light. It offers slightly improved visibility at dusk and dawn without IR on, but in the dark or even on a moonlit snowy night it won't show anything without IR on. While with IR on you are almost invisible within 25-50 meters to people without night vision, with 1x you can walk and complete tasks normally. The view is so…

Finally. Digital night vision device I can work with and trust!

Arrived faster than I thought. The device is well made and does not look first class. I put it on my helmet and took it off for the hike. This is the best digital night vision device I have ever used. The 940nm illuminator is a COMPLETE upgrade from previous versions. With IR4, I can't even see the emitter's red glow with the naked eye from 15 feet away, and the backlighting from the screen to the user's face at backlight level 4 is negligible. At these values, I was able to run for 2 hours on…

50/50 The design is good, the computing power is not enough.

Design is good but I lack the technology I am looking for. and faster processor, please promote it, I will be first in line. Pros: It is very good in terms of fit/shape and design. Size and shape are great. The rubber texture and button layout are easy to hold and the buttons are easily accessible. It's light enough to work on a helmet with our counterweights. Comes with an adapter for easy helmet mounting with some standard action camera connectors. It's easy to focus and the IR illumination…
