I'm so glad I bought this French Press. Oxo has done a good design here and I'm glad I didn't let the critical reviews put me off. First, it's true that some bases pass the screen during a dive. But I'm okay with that because it's not that bad. Use your own grinder and extra coarse setting. If you don't need coffee grounds, use the paper filter method. This French press is well made and appears to be more durable than the Bodum that knocked over and smashed the cat. It holds 32 ounces, which is 4 US-sized cups of coffee, not 8. I use it primarily for cold brew. With the soil lifter, you can clean it up quickly and easily by simply pulling it out and throwing it in the trash or in the garden. The glass slides out of the metal body more easily than the Bodum when it needs cleaning, but that doesn't bother me. The flask is easy to clean. OXO makes it easy. Right now, as I write this, I'm enjoying a delicious cold latte. Just leave the strainer on top of the liquid and pour out like a strainer. There are many videos on YouTube about this. super easy
