They're a lot cheaper than the Brita filters we've used before (and the hardware you attach to the faucet doesn't break like Brita's ). The result is excellent, the water is delicious. Just follow the instructions to let the water run first for 3 minutes and then for 3 seconds every time you turn it on. The first 3 minutes are for removing excess carbon (you will see black water). It takes (I think) three seconds to clear the plastic housing with the filter of water. If this is not done, it can look a bit like plastic.
