To stay updated! Serious molding issue

As other reviewers have pointed out this lid has serious molding issues on the silicone interior. My original lid had a black stain after a few months, I've tried everything including bleach and vinegar, nothing helped. I decided to give it another try despite reading other reviewers' warnings. How could I be wrong! This time I tried to clean the lid thoroughly every day. However, after a few months, he developed a black spot, and then another appeared. The mold is growing. At first I thought it was probably because of the saliva so I cleaned it every day but it didn't seem to do anything. I mean it's a water bottle, I can't wash it after every sip, can I?! The lid otherwise works very well, but this is serious. I kept using it, but the water tastes a bit "sweet" after the mold entered, it might be mental, but I have a very sensitive taste bud. I don't want to risk my health by drinking moldy or fungus water. Also, the lid was only good for about 2 months before mold appeared. I absolutely horrify creating two scraps of plastic by buying one on top of the original. The whole purpose of a water bottle for me is to want to be green, and it's just that I produce more plastic waste. If you see the data from the other reviews, this has been a problem for a long time and it seems that Nalgene has done absolutely nothing to address this issue. I'll probably buy another silicone free lid from them if needed, otherwise I won't buy from Nalgene again, although they don't care.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
