Review on πŸ–ŠοΈ Mont Marte Woodless Charcoal Pencils, 3 Piece Set - Soft, Medium, and Hard Charcoal Grades by Wendy Rodriguez

I love her for many reasons.

I'm new to figure drawing and have tried many (most?) drawing options. I hate graphite, shiny and soft. I love charcoal, dark or light, gray or black, but finding the right one for my work has been a challenge. But so many options are very messy, or they're square so it's hard for me to figure out what I like, or they're not black enough, or the paper is too heavy to tear into new charcoal, or they break if you look at them. First: a note for people who are complaining that they dropped them and they broke. Yes, and eggs too. Do you give eggs a thumbs down or a star for breaking them when you drop them? Just curious. Back on topic, they can be hard/difficult to sharpen, but if you do, make them pointy, soon you can apply a very wide shade or a narrow one. Your fingers won't turn black (and the cat won't get black streaks if she strokes without thinking about the condition of your little fingers). If it has a fairly sharp point, you can use it until it's flat on one side, but still sharp, so turning it can widen it or mark it very well. I like it. They break if you drop them, but I find them pretty reliable as long as they don't roll off my desk, which they did. After all, they are round. As already mentioned, the difference between the 3 varieties is very small, but everything fits for me. And to my knowledge they are as black as most of the other options I have. tried it, so I'm satisfied. A minus is that it is not black black. It is dark, blackish, but not softly compressed or burgundy. But I like to practice/learn with them and add some real black if needed. at the moment they are a good compromise for me. Back to my practice!
