Good camera! - Car electronics

I installed this on a 2015 Mazda 6 with a Clarion NX405 head unit. Here are some things I learned.1. Once you have drilled the hole for the camera, make sure there is enough room to thread the nut onto the bolt. I brought mine too close to the edge of the plastic piece. I ended up just removing the nut - the tape is pretty strong so the nut is a little more. Maybe in a few years I want that nut. 2. Fish tape and cable ties make installation easier. I routed the wires from the trunk, under the trim at the bottom of the passenger side doors, just above the glove box in the dash, and finally to the main unit. Click on the reverse lamp wiring. I've spent way too much time trying to figure out if my machine will fit the camera and if there's a pre-wiring for me. It's not like this. In my Mazda the black (ground) wire from the camera went to the yellow/black wire in the reverse light wires. The red wire from the camera went to another wire for the reverse light. (I don't remember which color, but it was the only other wire.) 4. There is also a red power wire attached to the video wire, which you can use to tell the head unit when the backup lights (and camera) are on. Newer cars like mine probably also have a reverse indicator wire on the dash, but I couldn't figure it out quickly; My head unit was not connected to the backup display. The video cable's red wire connects to the purple/white wire that goes to my main unit. I'm not sure if this is an industry standard, so it could be a different colored cable for your main unit. And of course in the trunk you need to connect the red video cable to the red cable of the camera. I hope it helps.
