I took this lens to replace the failed SIGMA 18-250. If you compare them, then the sigma is sharper and it has less chromatic aberration (CA). Sigma is good, of course, but I wanted to cover the 16-18mm gap that I had previously (I also have SIGMA 8-16) plus add a 250-300 range. Despite all the shortcomings, you need to understand that buying such a super-zoom you are buying a set of compromises. In the case of this Tamron, the set is as follows: a) if you want something reminiscent of sharpness and less soap - clamp the hole to 8-11; b) Geom. there are distortions, but they are corrected at once in Lightroom; c) Chromatic Aberrations (CA) on a covered aperture are acceptable and can also be corrected in lightroom. d) dark. That's all, in fact. If you know these features, you can get great pictures. It seems to me that when developing such lenses, the manufacturer should focus on obtaining the maximum quality when shooting in the "green" mode. :) The only competitor to this lens is the Nikkor 18-300. But his picture is not as much better as his price is higher, and he has very expensive filters. So, 5 stars for the 5-year warranty, (and so - a solid 4)! An example of a snapshot by which everything can be understood: https://cloud. Mail. Ru/public/2cKoh1kepTpk/2022-04-11_23-25-18__DSC2465. Tif Shot at f8, camera D7100. Edits in Lightroom: only lens correction and HA removal applied.
