I'll start with the biggest minus; 720p looks terrible on this camera. lots or artifacts. Although 480p (4x3) is pretty decent. It's a fixed focus, although I don't see it as a problem unless you need to get very close shots. But there's no auto-brightness and it's useless in low light. You can set it up manually in the software, but that's just annoying. Although the microphone is pretty good. Slightly dull, but otherwise clear and fairly accurate. Normal speaking from a reasonable distance should do the trick. For regular Skype calls with good lighting and 480p resolution, this should be fine, but it's a pass for streaming and YouTube. Bit rates are often overlooked in reviews: 720p - 5500 kbps (40 MB/min) 480p - 1800 kbps (15 MB/min). )
