Excellent mains and battery powered air pump. I hooked it up to two X-sized internal old fashioned angle "box" filters in my 240 gallon aquarium. I keep box filters filled with pre-filter sponge and Biomax ceramic rings that bubble all the time. They perform the function of aeration and additional biofiltration. The nice thing about the air pump is that in the event of a power failure, it automatically switches to battery operation without interruption and without any action on my part. So my pool gets basic filtration and ventilation even without electricity and when I'm not at home. The included nickel-cadmium battery lasts about 24 hours on high mode, and maybe twice as long as on low mode (when it's low and on battery, it turns on and off at one-minute intervals). Helps me not to worry about small power outages and gives me time to set up the generator during major power outages. This is great peace. The supplied nickel-cadmium battery can be replaced with 4 D batteries if necessary.
