Review on πŸ“Ί Roku Ultra 2017: 4K/HDR/HD Streaming Player with Enhanced Remote & Advanced Features by Jamie Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Faster, easier, more intuitive, cheaper than any cable provider or Tivo DVR.

We now have 3 Roku Ultras. 2 of which are earlier 2017 models and now a new later model Roku Ultra 4660. There are so many positive things to mention. Cut the cable first and stream only from Roku, save money and only pay for what you want. Get rid of the Tivo, Cable Box, etc. that use mechanical hard drives that always fail, are slow, and add monthly costs for cable cards or a cable company DVR. Rock is much less. They load channels like Netflix, Revain, Hulu etc very quickly. Our Tivo was slow, noisy and prone to crashes. None of these problems exist with Roku. The one we use the most above has broken several times in the almost year we've owned it. Just disable it and let it restart. The restart time is about 2-3 minutes, unlike Tivo DVR which took more than 15 minutes. If you want to use the headset with Roku, you'll need to invest in rechargeable batteries as the battery lasts 2-3 weeks. With normal use (not using a headset) they will last 2-3 months. Not a big deal with all the benefits. If you buy Roku, setup is easy and takes 15-20 minutes at most. No cable company tickets for Tivo, or take the day off to meet the cable guy. The latest Roku Ultra even now offers options to turn on the TV and volume. During setup, point at the TV and it simply learns itself. Other DVR remotes In the past, you had to search for codes and program the remote. Listen at night with headphones that plug into the remote control. Worried about missed transmissions? Get a Playstation Vue channel, record to their cloud and watch whenever you want. If you're on the doorstep then just buy one, keep your cable box for now while using Roku. Once you see how easy it is to install, realize the money saved on terminating cable and see how fast it can download all the hundreds of channels you choose yourself, the navigation is intuitive, even the wife was after a few Months addicted to go e Roku. So long expensive cable companies and noisy, slow, big, broken DVRs. One more thing, Roku now offers its own channel with lots of free movies and minimal ads. Now that you have owned them for almost a year, they are reliable, cheaper, faster, easier, more intuitive and have a lot more features than a DVR, it's too good to be true.
